Behind the Music

Madison has been playing violin since she was 8 years old. In 2020, she obtained her Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from Shenandoah University Conservatory where she studied under acclaimed performer Akemi Takayama. Throughout her career, she has worked with members of the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as many notable artists such as Kristóf Baráti, Wynton Marsalis, Kimberly Fisher, and many more. Maddy is a classically trained violinist. However, she adds a fresh twist to modern music through her ability on the electric violin. Maddy loves teaching music lessons, and perfoming in Central Pennsylvania. Her passion for music is evident through all of her performances!

More on Maddy

In 2013, Maddy was chosen to participate in the Philadelphia International Music Festival where she had the privilege of working alongside members of the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra.

 

In 2015, Maddy world premiered Winton Marsalis' "Blues Symphony" with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra at the Strathmore Theater in North Bethesda, Maryland. 

In 2016, Maddy became a director for the WUMC Summer Music Camp, a one week intensive music camp for all ages and ability levels. Maddy has attended all of the WUMC Camps since its first year in 2004.

In 2021, Maddy was nominated and Awarded Blair County's 20 Under 40 recognition. 20 under 40 highlights individuals that demonstrate business success, entrepreneurial spirit, community service and the overall betterment of life in the region.

Maddy has been involved with film festivals where she has played various film scores with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. A notable performance of hers was accompanied by Academy Award-nominated composer Nicholas Britell. With the SCSO, Maddy performed excerpts of Battle of the Sexes, Moonlight, The Big Short, and 12 Years a Slave.

She has performed within the Shenandoah Musical Theater Pitt orchestra for over 3 years under acclaimed orchestral conductor, Jan Wagner. 

Maddy has also worked alongside other notable composers such as Jennifer Higdon, Winton Marsalis, Jonathan Newman, and Eric Whitacer. 

She has worked alongside notable musicians such as Kimberly Fisher, Akemi Takayama, and Kristóf Baráti. She also had the privilege of playing on his 1703 "lady Harmworth" Stradivarius.

Maddy has taught privately since 2011 both in Winchester, Virginia and Altoona, Pennsylvania. Maddy currently operates a private violin studio in Altoona, PA. 

For two years, she provided private instruction to student performers in Loudon County, Virginia.

Maddy is a member of the Virginia Music Educators Association, and has attended association conferences in Norfolk, Virginia. 

She has assisted in community groups such a Shenandoah Chimers, a bell ensemble comprised of adults with intellectual disabilities. 

Maddy is happy to perform at a variety of community events such as coffee houses, weddings, and parties. She also has experience performing at funerals and on the streets of Old Town Winchester. 

She is known for her limitless passion, providing each note with meaning and purpose.
